7/23

Yesterday, we began with class where we dove a little bit deeper into the ins and outs of Solar Energy and how the PV panels work. The technology that goes into the energy conversion from them is super interesting.

From class, we went to a bird sanctuary. We saw so many birds that were native to Brazil and South America. We saw a few birds that are currently extinct in the wild, some of which have less than five existing in the world. Crazy to think about that there is literally five of a species left on this planet.

From there, we went to a different buffet and had some different options which was nice. After lunch, we went to UDC, which is a university in Foz de Iguacu. There, we met a bunch of new Brazilian students, listened to a lecture on sustainable energy and its future in Brazil, and then Dr. P had us do a mock Paris Agreement, which is what the United Nations decided on for climate change. Our goal was to lower the temperature increase to under 2 degrees Celsius by 2050. I channeled my inner Sean Donlon and politicked like crazy. I think if we had 15 more minutes, we would’ve achieved out goal. It was super enjoyable and I had a good time during the activity and talking to the Brazilian students afterwards.

After this, Alek, Jani and I did our laundry and then got another workout in while we were waiting on the laundry. I got into some kettlebell exercises for mobility and compound movements and focused mostly on chest, shoulders and a little bit of back. After that, I did a cold plunge In the pool, which was freezing, and then got ready for dinner and a bar. Pretty lowkey night, and it was pretty quiet as it was a Tuesday, but a good night nonetheless. Didn’t stay out too late, and got a good night’s rest.
