7/8

What’s up everybody, I’m back with another blog. Today started off with some breakfast and then we were off to class. We spent the class time today learning about material balances and degrees of freedom. Complicated stuff. After class, we went back to the hostel and had a quick lunch before we headed to ComBio’s office.

ComBio is the company we are doing work with, alongside a group of Brazilian University students. We learned all about ComBio, the work they do, how their systems work, and the problems they have (that we will get the chance to crack). ComBio is a biomass company that erects systems for clients that create power through the burning of biomass. They use several different materials for biomass and coordinate the delivery of the materials to the clients'facilities. The project I’ll be working on is the repurposing of the ash and how they can make a profit off of their waste. They are already involved in a few industries, including concrete and fertilizer.

After our visit to ComBio, we went back to the hostel and had a virtual meeting with the Brazilian students in our group. We met with them for about an hour and got organized on the project. After that, I took a crack at the homework before I went to my first-ever HIIT class. I haven’t been in the gym for the last few weeks, and it was good to get a solid workout in.

After that, we stopped and got a burrito, and headed back to the hostel. I am currently working on homework. It is one problem. I feel like I’m colorblind and trying to piece together a red and green puzzle. But hey, slow motion is better than no motion. Stay tuned for an update tomorrow evening!
